Child Support
Child support (youikuhi) is financial support paid by the non-custodial parent to support the child (Civil Code Art. 766). Calculated using the Supreme Court's child support table based on both parents' incomes. Typically continues until age 18 (or 22 for university). The 2026 reform added a statutory floor of ¥20,000 per child per month with priority lien.
