Editorial Policy & Lawyer Review Process

All legal articles on this site are reviewed by a qualified Japanese lawyer (bengoshi) before publication. This page transparently documents our writing flow, review process, citation principles, update policy, and correction procedures.

Article Writing & Publication Flow

  1. Topic Selection: Selected based on GSC actual search queries, statutory amendments, official statistics, and practical hot issues — quantitatively evaluated for reader needs
  2. Research: Primary sources are collected — relevant statutes, court decisions, official statistics, and government agency announcements (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare, Japan Fair Trade Commission, Consumer Affairs Agency, Immigration Services Agency, etc.)
  3. Draft Writing: Editorial team drafts the initial version, always citing statute articles, case numbers, and official statistical sources
  4. Lawyer Review: A Japanese-qualified lawyer (bengoshi) checks accuracy of statutory application, validity of case citations, and absence of practical issue omissions. Returns to editorial team if corrections needed
  5. Publication: Published after review clears, with publication date explicitly displayed. Immediate notification to Google/Bing/Yandex via IndexNow
  6. Periodic Re-review: Articles are updated within 48 hours of statute amendments, new case law, or statistics updates (updatedAt explicitly noted)

Citation Principles

To ensure reliability of legal articles, we strictly adhere to the following citation principles.

  • Statute citations: Every article cites the official article number of the governing law (e.g., Civil Code Art. 770, Labor Standards Act Art. 37, Immigration Act Art. 22)
  • Case law references: Key issues are supported by Supreme Court or High Court case numbers (e.g., Reiwa XX (Gyo-Hi) No. XX)
  • Official statistics: We prefer Judicial Statistics Annual Report, MHLW statistics, Consumer Affairs Agency announcements, JFTC announcements, etc.
  • Government announcements: Official announcements from MOJ, MHLW, NTA, ISA, CAA, JFTC, etc. are referenced as primary sources
  • Industry & specialized media: Public materials from bar associations, JFBA, and specialized media may be referenced (personal blogs are excluded)
  • Citation format: All citations explicitly state the source (institution, date, URL). Vague expressions like "it is said that" are avoided

Update Policy

  • Statutory amendments: Articles are updated within 48 hours of detecting relevant amendments (laws, cabinet orders, ministerial ordinances, notifications)
  • New case law: Related articles are updated when major Supreme Court or High Court decisions are issued
  • Statistical data updates: Annual statistical updates are reflected in relevant figures
  • Update history: Major updates trigger updatedAt field updates, reflected in sitemap.xml and notified to Google
  • Periodic review: All articles are reviewed at least once per year to maintain current legal practice alignment

Correction Transparency

If an error is identified in article content, we follow these procedures.

  • Immediate correction: Corrections are made within 24 hours of detection
  • Correction history retention: Pre/post-correction diffs are retained internally (for future public disclosure to ensure transparency)
  • Reader feedback welcome: We welcome error reports via the contact form
  • Major error disclosure: Major errors affecting legal interpretation are noted at the top of the article
