Statute of Limitations

Statute of limitations (jikou) extinguishes or vests rights after a prescribed period. General claims expire 5 years from awareness or 10 years from accrual (Civil Code Art. 166). Tort claims: 3 years from awareness (5 for life/body injury), 20 years from the act (Arts. 724, 724-2). Murder has no criminal limitation (CPC Art. 250).
